This last year, my Mom got in a terrible car accident and broke her upper arm into three pieces. It was a terrible brake. The doctors could not do surgery on it because they were afraid to shatter the bone into smaller pieces. So they put a cast on for 7 weeks. When it came off my Mom could hardly open and close her hand, and raising her arm, forget about it! Two weeks later she was off to physical therapy.
She is now to a point where she has about 70% of her mobility back. she can almost reach above her head (almost!). I'm sorry to say I have really enjoyed her having a broken arm...but let me explain. My Mom is very independent! She is one of those women who can do anything you ask of her. She is amazing. And lately, she has needed help, from some one not so amazing...Me! I have actually felt useful! I'm not trying to say she has made me feel like I am less than her. I have always known she loved me. But I'm really not that great...I'm just normal!
So, I'm sorry for all the pain that you've had to go through Mom! But I've really enjoyed getting closer to you! And just think, it's only TEN MORE YEARS! (that's how long the doctor says it will take for her bones to fill in and harden!)
