I was able to return to girls camp again...only this time as a leader. We were able to sleep in the most plush accommodations...as far as girls camp is concerned. We stayed at the Heber Valley Camp. There were cabins with wooden bunk beds...not five star, but much better than digging trenches and sleeping on top of tarps. There were also flushing toilet and showers! Not your typical latrines.
The best thing was the challenge course. The girls loved the 30 foot swing. They strapped you into a harness, gave you a little strap to hold onto and pulled you up before you had time to think twice about it.

When you got to the top you had to let go of the little strap...and that far off the ground you had some serious concerns. You could feel gravity pulling hard, and you really were hoping that the harness was tight and the rope not frayed
The worst swing was the first. As you were flying backwards at the speed of gravity plus you weight (which for me was much faster than the girls) you could feel your stomach in you throat. But really most of the girls and even the leaders braved the swing. This picture was of our awesome 60+ camp director. She is so energetic, despite her age, and during a sit-up competition she did the most excepting one 14-year-old. (I was not present or I would have kicked her 60-year-old trash...in the most respectful way possible of course)All in all, we had a wonderful time. And even the wonderful lodging could not beat the view of the stars...even the milky way was visible.
