  1. Did you date someone from High School?

My first date was on my sixteenth birthday to a then boyfriend, Doug. We dated on and off all Sophomore year, but I did date lots in between the off times.

One of the off times with Doug I dated this guy…Justin, but I dumped him…way to possessive and he ended up being a kind of stalker…

and a really bad driver…luckily I was not in the car when it happened!

Next came Spencer….a really nice guy, but he was only and inch taller and I couldn’t wear heels…a deal breaker…not really. But his kissing an ex-girlfriend while we were dating was. Dumped him too!

Next I was just friends with this guy for a really long time...

We had lots of fun doing crazy things…

I even dated him in college…

sent him on a mission…Dear Johned him three times (for various boyfriends and other reasons)

And when he came home…

I Married him!

2. What kind of car did you drive?
I had no car. I was driven around by my friends or the various people I would date. Most days I was taken to school in Old Bess.

Ol' Bess

On a very, very, very rare occasion I was able to drive my parents car, Honda Accord or Mitsubishi eclipse. I don’t ever remember taking the eclipse anywhere on a date…mostly because my dates would drive…but my dad did make sure I knew how to drive a stick!

3. What was the most embarrassing moment of High School for you?

Oh…do I really have to tell you…

Peeing my pants in front of all my friends. Luckily I had a friend who had mercy on me and took me home to change. Thank you Laurie…you will always be my friend for doing that!

4. Where you a party animal?
NO! I was a good girl, contrary to popular belief! (can you tell I'm a little bitter)

5. Where you considered a flirt?
A big one...and I loved every minute of it...I dated a lot, and I wouldn't change a thing.

6. Where you in Band, Orchestra or Choir?

I was very nerdily involved in choir. They called us choir nerds.

2 years of Amour Chanter (women’s ensemble)

2 years Concert Choir

2 years musical

1 year Vocal Ensemble

And look…my husband is sitting right next to me.

7. Where you a nerd?
Well, according to how many favorite teachers I had...I probably was. But I wasn't smart! Just a choir nerd. Just remember, nerds rule the world!

8. Where you on Varsity Teams?
Not really. I did letter in track though. I threw the shot-put.

9. Did you ever get suspended or expelled?
No. What do you have to do to get suspended? I did break a window in Jr. High. The VP thought it was my friend who did it, so I fessed up and told him it was me...not on purpose though. Do you remember how we had those steel toed boots? Well, I tapped the window with mine to say hello to a friend, and next thing I knew...there was a hole where my foot was. Honestly I just tapped it...really. (no one has ever believed my story)

10. Can you still sing the fight song?

Yes, and in harmony.

Through all the seasons of the year
and all the years to come
We'll raise our voices loud and clear
to Hillcrest High we love so dear
our colors in their splendor bright
long wave the green and white

we always will remember your courage and your might
we're honored to belong to you
we'll keep our standards high
we'll cheer you in your victory
and in defeat stand by
though someday we must leave you
our hearts will always thrill
to the glory of your beauty
on the crest of rolling hills

There are probably a couple of words that are wrong, but I give myself 95%

11. Who were your favorite teachers?

Mr. Bentley...of course

Coach Takeno

I had him for girls gym. He used to say, “okay boys…into the position.” Yup he even called the girls, boys. And the position, well back then we called it push-up position, now we call it plank.
sadly he was accused of sexual harassment (which I totally do not believe) and then a few short months later he died...I don't remember of what, but he went to lay down at school, he said he wasn't feeling well, and when his health class came in...he was gone. It still makes me sad.

Ms. Beveridge (soph. history)

She was just an awesome teacher in general. She knew how to get us interested and keep our attention...and lets face it...we were hormonal crazy teenagers...she must have been great if she could keep us involved.

Mr. Snelgrove (physics)

I loved his class. He was a great teacher and it used to make him really mad when Dave Pickett used to ask about the flux capacitor...
"YOU CANNOT CONTAIN A FLUX!"

Coach Neff (Jr. history)

He was my Junior year history teacher. A really horrible teacher, gave us mostly busy work, and constantly grumpy. There where rumors that he always had a little vodka in his mug. I don't know why I liked him. I think his grumpiness amused me.

Coach Haslip(math)

I had him for math. He was the first math teacher where I actually understood what he was saying. Lots of the girls in my class had crushes on him. They kept telling me he had a nice butt. All I can say is gross! It still grosses me out to think of him that way...he's a teacher!

12. Where did you sit during lunch?
A variety of places. Mostly at school out in the hall or at a table with friends. My favorite table was the one where we would see if we could get John Hastings to laugh hard enough for the milk to come out his nose. Most days it worked!

13. What was your High School's full name?
Hillcrest High School
...or look for it to be the home of the Brewster Roosters...the film the Disney Channel just ended wrapping up last spring

14. School mascot?
Harvey the Husky

15. Did you go to Homecoming? With who?

Spencer (No last names) See the half inch heel. Not very flattering and I think I was slouching on top of that!

And my husband…not then…now! See the heels, much more flattering. We had a crazy date that night. He thought my dress was a little immodest…do you think it is? So that is why the picture is like this.

16. If you could go back, would you do it again?
Never. Not for a Million Dollars! Don't get me wrong...I really had fun in High School, but there was also so much pain that I would never want to go through again.
-I'm too fat
-I'm not cool
-my friends are mad at me
-people think I'm doing what with my boyfriend?

17. What do you remember most about graduation?

Not much.

I remember it being really hot and someone brought some blow-up beach ball to throw through the graduates.

And my to-be husband sang the most lame song. He was the Sterling Scholar for music, so he performed at graduation…To Dream the Impossible Dream…is that even what it is called. Sorry, that is one of those old-fashioned ones from the musicals, not my taste. But on the bright side, he forgot the words and made me laugh!

18. Where did you go on Senior Skip Day?
Back to school to have my yearbook signed by people who hadn't yet...and then back home...boring.

19. Were you in any clubs?
Just choir. I didn't even jump in the pictures of the clubs like my friends did...I was a good girl.

20. Have you gained any weight since then?
First of all I resent this question...of course I have. I don't know anyone who hasn't. Unless you count my sister-in-law who says she is skinnier, the little brat!

21. Who was your PROM date?

Doug, fun date.

Jared, pity date. Sorry Jared! He asked me out first, before the guy I liked, and I always said that I would honor the first comer…bag mistake. I had a horrible time, he didn’t want to do the promenade at Jr. PROM, and when he tried to dance with me, it gave me the creeps. No pity dates girls! Just say no.

22. 10 year reunion...are you going?
We went...and it was fun, but I have to admit, I don't really miss the people from High School. I stay in contact with pretty much everyone I want to know about. But I do think we need to have another VE party.

23. Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?
Don't worry. Everything is going to work out. AND YOU'RE NOT FAT YOU IDIOT!

TAG, YOU'RE IT!

So funny! Where was I -- I didn't know you did the shot put!!! I guess I didn't live at home when you were in HS, but HELLO!

WOW! That brought back a ton of memories! I always loved dating Cameron because I could wear heels as high as I wanted. Figures I would end up marrying a guy an inch taller than me :)

And I cannot believe you remember the words to the fight song...impressive!

And amen to not doing it over again. I, too, loved high school, but I can do without the repeat of drama. Oh, the drama!

I'll have to take some time and do the tag. Thanks for sharing fun memories.

The composer is right. That dress is very immodest. After all you can see your arms!
How fun to learn a little more about you. I would give that same advice to myself there at the end. Isn't sad that it takes us until we are in our thirties to realize that when we were in our teens we were anything but fat. Sad:(

Wow, you kept busy! How did you find the time to tease Kim?

Jill - there is always time for a little teasing! That's one things there will always be time for no matter how busy I am.
Sheri - yup, shot-put. I didn't throw it very far, but I still had to wear little running shorts. (sexy)

Sorry we haven't touched base since you were here. It was so good to see all of you. Jen keeps asking when her friends are coming again. I couldn't resist commenting to tell you that I went to school with Clark Snelgrove. I didn't know what he ended up doing in life. He was such a nice, quiet kid in high school. I could show you pictures of him in high school from my yearbooks. We have even more connections than we thought! We send our love.
